Good deed from Laura’s dear friend Jenny

I told my first grade students about Emily and her dedication to spreading kindness and love around the world. I showed them pictures of Em along with Laura and Becky and talked about the foundation. After we talked about Emily’s story, we reflected on a book we had previously read, Each Kindness. The students reflected on how kindness is like a ripple in water–it starts small and will continue to spread. We talked about how even a small act of kindness can make the world a better place. Then the students did a short writing on ways they can start a ripple of kindness.

I didn’t know Emily personally but am deeply touched by her story and my connection with her family. I feel her in my heart and will continue to honor her by sharing her warmth and generosity as I continue teaching our youth.
